emailing truth to power
There's been lots of pointage to this email to friends from Baghdad by Wall Street Journal reporter Farnaz Fassihi, who has since been relieved of her duties there.
Let's say it's not as bad as Farnaz Fassihi says it is. Let's say, in a certain bloggy tradition, it's even worse than it appears. Now what?
I can imagine very few good outcomes. But I do pray for some.

The ultimate Big Box move
Terry Heaton points to Costco's success selling caskets in its stores and online. I like this boldface disclaimer:
THERE IS NO SCIENTIFIC OR OTHER EVIDENCE THAT ANY CASKET WITH A SEALING DEVICE WILL PRESERVE HUMAN REMAINS.
Me, I'd rather be planted in a green graveyard.

Will it pass 100k tomorrow?
Google now finds 53,200 results for podcasting. Just watching the Big Bang here, these few nanoseconds into the Event.

Speeking of feeding...
 Caymag:
Where (note the ancestries in that link), and when, I grew up in New Jersey, the second language spoken was Italian. Third was probably Yiddish. Fourth, Irish. Spanish? Wrong neighborhood.
Anyway, reading Caymag reminds me of how much I loved hearing (and seeing!) Italian being spoken (usually in admonition, by somebody's mother or grandmother). What a perfect language. No wonder the food's so good.

Still a bit wet
Tried IceRocket yet? Like Technorati, it searches blogs. Also, like Techorati, it's working out kinks. For example, it also returns results for misspellings of search terms. Searches for "Searls" return lots of results for "Searle."
I like the Preferences, though. And Find A Friend is, well... strange, but promising (in several ways).
Bonus link: Blogging as Active Social Networking - Part 2, at John Husband's Wirearchy. Written shortly after this very post was posted, it refers to this very post. This RSS shit is mighty damn fast.

Business modeling
Jason Calcanis points out that Endgadget's RSS feed is now sponsored. By Bose. For the SoundDock. That means you see the ads in your RSS reader, but not on the Engadget Web page.
