Linux For Suits was an all day event at Fall Internet World in New York on October 6. It went well. Linus Himself was there. He opened the event with a few remarks, an interview (with yours truly), and a very strong contribution to the day's first panel. Esther Dyson moderated the second panel and I did the third. You can hear them all at On24.com.
The Site
LinuxForSuits.com is the new business site for Linux Journal. Find all kinds of Linux-in-business thinking there, as well as a recap of the October 6 event, including links directly to transcripts and recordings.
The Movement
Here's the thinking in a nutshell.
Linux and its applications are building material. Open source is a construction methodology. Together both are changing the software industry into something very much like the construction business one defined by the designers and builders who do the work, rather than by suppliers and their exclusive goods.
I've been writing about this for the last few months in Linux Journal and other places. Most of those pieces are here. Give 'em a read and let me know what you think.
