You have NO idea who 'gets it'
As a professional journalist, here are two simple observations: writing an article for a magazine, or a newspaper is like painting; while blogging is taking photographs.
The more accurate analogy, to those with eyes:
Writing is to painting as blogging is to 2-year-old painting with crayons.
DUH!!
The end product in both cases is beautiful, just the end results and reactions are slightly different.
Om wouldn't, by ANY CHANCE be trying to set up some meme's to explain why you all stamped BLOGGER on your foreheads, would he??
Naw...!!
Agreed, except that the time isn't quite real, and that blogging isn't a medium. It's a Web-based form of journalism. And the Web isn't a medium, either; but rather a place, an environment, a collection of locations. Like a marketplace, or a commons.
And you don't get it either, Doc. You've sold so much crap to THE PEOPLE THAT TRUSTED YOU, that you don't know who gets it and who is lamer 'n Smarty Jones.
That'd be you, on most ALL occasions.
You and Scoble think I'm attacking you?!? I'm trying to point out that you may NOT get caught, at the end, but YOU'LL KNOW.
And you can try all you want to convince yourself you DO KNOW, SO MUCH BETTER than everybody else, for example me, but...
So lemme try to help you some more. Teaching you or attacking you, whatever:
Blogging is JOKE JOURNALISM.
The Web is NOT a PLACE, unless you're more delusional that I've EVER BEEN.
And it's a commons because you've been lying all these years about how good "FREE" is, because you're getting your paycheck.
And, btw, that about the commons and free culture and all that YOUR BUDDY cooked up:
How's come ALL schools that I'm aware of are CUTTING FUNDS to educate the kiddies in the arts, grade school on up...?? Because IT AIN'T FREE, ya BLOGGIN BLOGGER.
