As if it weren't taxing enough
One way or more?
| | Anybody seen the Radio YourWay AM/FM recorder? The promo poop on that page says it's compatible only with Windows, but I wonder if that's actually the case. It has a USB interface, and stores its recordings in MP3. If it shows up as a USB device, there shouldn't be a problem with accessing the files with a Linux or OS X system, I would presume. I kinda wish it had a stereo microphone input; but it has line-in and built-in mike features instead. |
| | I also wonder how it works as a radio. |
Ratings vs. power
| | In the last available radio ratings for Santa Barbara, the most powerful FM station in town, pop music KRUZ/103.3 gets a 3.6 share (tied with three other stations for #7). Public/jazz KCLU/102.3 has a 2.2 share, tied for #9. |
| | I'm just amazed to find noncommercial stations listed in with the commercial ones. Nice to see that after all these years that they've been kept separate, for no good reason. |
Re-mail, cont'd
On the other blog...
| | Of course, I'll still be blogging here and at IT Garage. |

There is a nice little industry that does this. The take the data from Arbitron and message it for public stations. Radio Research Consortuim is just one of many.
Ie: WBUR in Boston always ranked in the top ten in morning and afternoon drive, in part because of the BBC news hour live from the Americas stream on World Service at either 8 or 9a local time depending on time of year.
