| | And the Most Obscure Question Award to ... |
| | To rosered dracula is wrong. |
Keeping a clear head
| | In Now What? Jay Rosen visits the discrepancy between what the major media showed of the Nick Berg beheading (nothing) and what the Web makes available to curious crowds gathered to witness the recorded atrocity (everything). |
| | I have thoughts about it, but I'm busy. The short of it is, I'm glad those images aren't in my head, and I have no desire to put them there, even though I share the same morbid curiousity as the many who have watched this brief terrorist program, and therefore served at least one of its purposes. And I'm sure if the movie of Berg's beheading were running in my head it wouldn't change my opinions about what's going on in Iraq, which are still wide open to all kinds of thoughtful input. |
| | [Later...] A couple more thoughts. |
| | First, take it from an old PR guy: the Berg beheading was not an act of war; it was an act of publicity. |
| | Second, stop and think of what that publicity was meant to do, and what it has the power to do regardless of its intentions. Hal Crowther puts it best: The best way to give a lie the force of truth is to soak it in innocent blood. |

Sean Hannity has aired it twice on his abc net synidicated talk show and local abc am station wmal has all of it streamed on its website.
Seems Berg was a east coast tower rat, did some work for a couple of stations in the market plus a bunch of stations in PA..
