Connected hotel in London?
| | Just got myself situated in Dublin for April 27th to 29th, thanks to a helpful reader. Now looking to do the same in London for the nights of April 30th to May 2nd. |
| | All I want are a high speed internet connection, wired or wi-fi, and a relatively cheap nightly rate. Some nice places have been recommended, but they're pretty expensive. |
Egg on
| | We're here in Baltimore, barely awake (still on Pacific time) and already late for most of the masses in town, knowing nearly nothing about the area yet baffled with the choices... |

If you don't need to be in the center of London then the cheapest place to stay is at the Sheraton Skyline out near Heathrow airport. Rooms (which are huge compared to standard London rooms) go for around 90 UK Pounds and includes all taxes (most London rooms don't add the 17.5% VAT charge). If you book, make sure when you check in you get one of the refurbished rooms on the first floor.
The best part is that as well as wired access, they also have T-Mobile Wireless so you can buy a 24 Hour pass and use it at any T-Mobile Hotspot across London, and even in some of the Admirals Lounges in the airport. This works out cheaper than using the wired access.
The downside of this is that Heathrow is about 30 mins to an hour train ride from the center of London, and you need to pick up a bus to get out to the hotel from the airport and to the tube or rail station. While this is increases hassle you certainly save more money, especially if you are only going to be using the hotel to sleep and work in, rather than dropping in and out throughout the day.
Hope this helps.
