Hey Doc--
Here's one for you. Bill Tush was briefly a consultant for WDBS, probably around 1975. Actually, an unpaid consultant. And we didn't really consult much with him.
But I had met him in Atlanta at some radio convention or record company boondoggle or some such, and he had been a rock 'n 'roller, and was then working at Channel 17, and wanted to build up a radio consulting practice, so we agreed that we (at WDBS) would note here or there that we were consulted by Bill Tush, and he would show us as a client, and we'd talk on occasion about the music or what not.
We weren't in touch for very long, and I subsequently became aware that he was flourishing along with the Superstation, with various shows and personas appearing on what had become a national channel. I remember one night many years later watching CNN International from some jet-lag lonely hotel room very far away and seeing him come on to do some kind of show-biz feature--it was definitely a "whoa" moment.
Interesting to see your link to his site, and to see that he's still scrambling and staying at least a little exposed to the limelight.
Cheers,
Steve Tulsky
