Three different APPLE wireless access points, or three different brand/models?
Sounds like long ago when a certain set of characters got sent down the line... and modems would interpret it as a hangup command (usually +++ATH)
Try a different TCP/IP address, see if that matters... you're probably on DHCP somewhere, so you could fake it by releasing/renewing, or abitrarily picking a different one.
Alternatively, it could be a MTU related issue. Some wierd things happen with Microsoft's Win 98 VPN client that take forever to figure out... all because of MTU weirdness... certain length packets just get tossed.... could be a similar phenomenom.
