Re: Wednesday, January 21, 2004
I was listening to NPR this morning and their interview with Kevin Phillips about his new book about the Bushes. Listening to Phillips as he used a variety of words to describe all the connections and relationships the Bush family has, and has had over time, with other people, I was struck by the fact that he never once used the word "network."
We understand the power of networks intuitively, and they're really not new. What perhaps is new is that technology has afforded more people the opportunity to form networks with people they formerly never could.
As for American Idol being symbolic of anything other than poor taste and a perverse desire of people to be humiliated and others to witness that humiliation, well, that's a real stretch.
