Re: Tuesday, January 6, 2004
Hmmmm .... I didn't hear Morris on Hannity's radio show, but I did hear him on last night's Hannity & Colmes talking about the same issues.
He definitely said that Dean "is strengthened rather than weakened by all the punches he takes," but his point, at least on the TV show, seemed to be that Dean is strengthened among his liberal base and that this "strengthening" won't help him at all in the general election. Morris said that it wasn't a good idea for the other Democratic candidates to be bashing Dean because it only helped him in the primaries (making him look even better to those Democrats who were already committed to voting for him), but he went on to say that with all of Dean's appeals to his liberal base, it was going to be very difficult for him to move to the center in the general election.
As such, my impression was that Hannity didn't see Morris' comments as unwelcome - in fact, he saw them as proof of his opinion - that Dean can't win in November.
Maybe they "refined" their banter between the radio show and the TV show.
