Re: Sunspots
On one of the radio mailing lists I'm on, I saw a gentleman in Oregon reporting the finest reception on mediumwave (AM) he's seen from Australia and New Zealand in over ten years, a list of literally scores of stations heard yesterday morning. I have a program that grabs the solar numbers from NOAA every three hours as kind of an early warning system of interesting conditions, and the solar flux numbers (related to sunspot activity) are pushing 300, a number I've only ever seen a couple of times, which means that shortwave radio propagation should be exceptional (and exceptionally interesting, different than usual). Which means that it's a hell of a time for me to be stuck with no outdoor antennas and my good radios still in boxes after moving to a new house.... <sigh>
