Expanding the Medical Conversation
Medical error has been a hot topic on medblogs, focusing on three main areas -- how often medical errors happen (laypeople: a lot; medbloggers: not a lot, Institute of Medicine, a lot), whether or not automation or standardization could help reduce errors, and how to intelligently apply feedback to the system to make it safer for the next patient. I wrote a post summarizing the input from around the blogosphere: "Bloggers weigh in on medicine, medical errors".
