Packeting to go
| | Today to Sunday: Foo Camp at O'Reilly in Sebastapol. I hope Nat Friedman, whom I ran into on the street in Cambridge last weekend, finds out before today that the camp isn't in Portland. (Late bulletin: Nat just emailed to say he caught the mistake and is rerouting to SFO. Now I gotta go and make sure I'm not late for my own flight. See? Blogging works!) |
| | Wednesday-Friday: Digital ID World in Denver. I'm giving a keynote ("Mydentity, Ourdentity & Theirdentity") on Friday. |
Record labels sue God for shipping babies with ears
| | The suit is supported by the Recording Industry Association of America, which includes all major music labels. RIAA president Jack Valenti slammed keyboard companies for what he called "the next thing to armed robbery", adding that "They even put two of these keys on each model, and make them two or three times as large so you can't miss it. That's not incitement to piracy?" |
| | AT LUNCHTIME TODAY, I moderated a panel discussion on digital downloading and music, featuring a bunch of musicians, songwriters, and industry people from Nashville. Here's the scary bit: one of the industry guys said that their big legislative priority is to try to create a regime where you have to register with a unique, verifiable ID to access the Internet. |
