Fun with radio propagation
When I was in the Navy, we sailed eastward from Hawaii under a remarkable tropospheric duct. I sat on deck with my newly-purchased AOR AR-1000 scanner and tuned in San Francisco FM stations like we were sitting in the Bay, though we were 800 miles away.
It felt like a gift to me: hearing the mainland after being away for close to six months. There's nothing like the sound of home, huh?
