Love on
| | Two in the morning. The server's still out and I'm still scanning pictures, thinking about what I'll say in my eulogy for Mom today. |
| | Whatever else I've learned from going through boxes of old photographs, it's clear to me now why people take pictures of people. It isn't just to capture moments, to record history, to make art, or just to fool around, though it's all those things and more. It's to tell stories. Including stories people don't even know they're telling. |
| | There's a story in that smile of Mom's, which lit the world for ninety years. |
| | It's a love story, isn't it? What else could it be? |
Down day
| | Searls.com is down. Not sure what the problem is. It's at a colo and I don't have time today to run down the problems. I sent emails to tech support through another account, and for now I'll just hope somebody answers and fixes it. Meanwhile, no email, plus broken links to everything at searls.com, including all the photo archives I've been putting up for Mom. Bad timing with so many folks wanting to see them. |
| | Yesterday was the graveside service, today the memorial service. |
| | In spite of the sadness, it's sweet and fun to get serious hang-time with friends and relatives. Wonderful people. |
| | Will the Circle Be Unbroken keeps running through my mind. Yesterday at her graveside service I said Mom's passing left a hole, and that the rest of us formed a cirlce around it. |
| | That seemed to make sense. Anything that makes sense is handy at times like this. Even a dead Web server. |
