And everybody else, too. This is a hard time, but it's not a bad time.
Mom and her three sibs lost their father right after the first of his grandchildren came along. They lost their mother only three years later, right after the rest of the sibs were married and the next two grandchildren were born (I was the first of those).
It was right after The War. Many endings, many more beginnings.
This is a transitional time too. Mom wasn't the last of her generation, but she outlived all but a few of them. The handoff is almost complete. My generation, the geezer boom, is next. And we still have a lot of work to do.
