Re: Chill
It's truly been an unusual summer here on the Jersey Shore. I'm not surprised to hear that the water temperatures are so low; the air temperatures are quite a bit lower than usual as well. I've lived here for 25 years, and I don't remember a July or August with so many days where the temperature didn't get out of the 70s, let alone the 80s. The spring was unusually wet, and that's continued into the summer. For the past two weeks, you would think we were living in Florida with all the afternoon thunderstorms we've been getting (minus the heat, of course). It's almost like clockwork; the rain comes at 3 pm, we get torrential downpours and lightning, and it's over by 4. A normal summer on the Jersey Shore would see temperatures getting into the 90s pretty regularly, but I think we had maybe one week of that. And spring would normally last about two weeks; it was a good two or three months of temperatures in the 50s and 60s this year. I haven't watered the lawn once this year, and it's totally green (unlike last summer, when I couldn't water the lawn because of drought restrictions and it went almost totally brown). It's been a very strange year here weatherwise.
