IRC - not an IM? Not naturally...
Hey Doc, IRC is not traditionally an IM system, but you can make it into one. This isn't open-source (as it probably should be imho), but Connector is based on IRC but uses a java interface to give it IM functionality. Have a play, let us know what you think.
