A day of Rogaine for your palms
| | Thanks for the pointer goes to a friend who wouldn't put this thing on his own blog. (Probably because he has, um, "work" to do tomorrow.) |
NYFi
| | It's our anniversary, so we're not going to be doing much wi-fi exploring in the city today. Mostly we'll take advantage of babysitting and a break in the gloomy weather. |
| | By the way, most of the wi-fi signals I picked up yesterday appeared to be open; and the half dozen or so I could check (most of them I picked up riding around in a cab) all appeared to be useful (in fact I used three or four of them). |
| | One other note. The only strong signals ones were deliberately trying to serve public spaces, which is one of the main ideas behind NYCwireless. All but one of the signals I heard yesterday appeared to come from homes or private providers (Verizon, tMobile) in public or nearly-public places (e.g. Starbucks). |

My last day living in New York was Saturday morning. I've wandered all around Lower Manhattan with Airport-enabled PowerBook, and agree that WiFi at City Hall Park is a great choice. See this recent photo and other images of my WiFi wanderings: http://www.visuallee.com/weblog/2003_05_01_archive.html#200282345
Next time you're in town, you might try The Club Quarters hotels (one in midtown, and another in the financial district). They offer free WiFi throughout their buidings.
