Thanks, everybody. Sucks doesn't cover it. I'm gonna get some sleep. In the morning I'll visit the crater where my digital life used to be, and try to come up with some strategy. I need to start by borrowing or leasing another laptop with a firewire drive, to see what the backup situation looks like. I'm not optimistic. There are responses to this message:
