Sony vs. Sonny
| | They certainly have the most to gain - even more than us plain old customers. What makes it REALLY interesting is that they own a label and studio. Which side are they on? |
| | After the keynote, Ando unwound at a dinner for a few journalists, where talk turned to the knotty problem of digital rights. He startled everyone by speculating that in the long term, given the nature of Internet copying, record labels may not have a future. |
| | I think that answers Marc's question. |
Actual terror found
| | I just read there's a war going on in Cote d'Ivoire. Twenty-five hundred French troops on the ground (does anybody call it an invasion?) while peace talkers convene in Paris. |

I thought Venezuela had an election which put Hugo Chavez in power--am I wrong? Of course, we had an election which allowed the Supreme Court to put Bush in power--but I don't think even the Venezuelan election was that screwed up.
Anyway, here's a link from a friend's weblog on the question of whether we're seeing labor or capital on strike in Venezuela--he believes it's the latter, and the discussion thread is long, varied, argumentative, and interesting.

Verizon lost it's suit with the RIAA. That means, that under the DCMA if you download a ton of mp3 , the RIAA can come after your ISP and find out who you are.
Wonder what Lessig thinks about this?

The Ivory Coast war, best source on that in English is RFI. The shortwave services in Ivory Coast are off the air, the streaming audio sites are also turned off.
French speakers can try the stream from Africa No One and also from Radio Cameroon
