Re: Monday, December 23, 2002
Hi, Doc:
I've been watching the scarcity/identity discussion, too, and have a couple of thoughts, posted on my weblog.
The most recent is here:
http://msl1.mit.edu/furdlog/index.php?wl_mode=more&wl_eid=176
and its predecessor is:
http://msl1.mit.edu/furdlog/index.php?wl_mode=more&wl_eid=174
The key point of the current posting comes out of Eric's assertion that reputation is something that has been necessary for commerce over the last couple of decades - actually, there are many who would argue that reputation is fundamental to commerce, because there's no rational basis for assuming that any exchange transaction would ever be completed EXCEPT for the notion of reputation and other related social concepts.
There's more on this at the cited links.
