Eudora Hell
Doc,
I've had similar mass deletion events with Eudora for OSX, and I think one of the reasons might be something we share in common--massively huge mailboxes. I have about 22,000 e-mails in my inbox, from 1994 or so to date. Previous versions of Eudora could handle this (after increasing the memory) but OSX frequently a) loses e-mails entirely, b) truncates e-mails into one another such that headers don't match content, and c) destruction of status flags (reply/forward/etc). I've resisted moving to Mac Mail because I wanted to keep the forwarding info (I like to have an accurate record) and Mac Mail (even with Eudora cleanner) doesn't move that information.
After last nights destructive event and this morning's reconstruction, I think I'm giving up on Eudora. It's been a fun ride, but I just can't afford a day every month to rebuild inboxes.
Eudora tech support recommends keeping inboxes under 1mb, but when I need to do some find/searches I don't want to have to jump through 22 separate mailboxes so it's not a solution.
Back to the rebuild.
