Talk about the job for hell
Warner Music Group is looking for a CTO in its IT department. I'll augment the description by turning it from a block of text to a series of numbered verb phrases (couldn't resist highlighting the operative neobuzz item)...

Okay Cluesters, who's going for this thing?
 Heh.
(The backlink goes to Mary Lu, whose brave fingers have been taking the fading pulse of this monster for a long time.)

What those other guys said
Adam Felber fact-checks fellow bloggers and their sources in the course of explaining why Fanatical Apathy is not a political blog.
Alex Frantz does the same thing in his blog, Public Nuisance.
 Well done, both of them.
I'm kind of in the same place as Adam. Mostly I see politics, especially around The War on _______, as tarbaby stuff. Get into it and it's too hard to get out.
And I've said my peace already, more than once.
Thanks to Ann Salisbury and Brian Linse for the links.

Open SesaReed
David P. Reed, prime author of the end-to-end argument that made the Internet equally successful and stupid (by putting the intelligence at the ends rather than in the middle) is all over the open spectrum case. Here's his resource page, which is full of links to Good Stuff.
I bring this up because there was a piece by Lee Gomes about Open Spectrum in yesterday's Wall Street Journal. David added more about the subject in SATN, the blog he shares with Bob Frankston and other friends.
Kevin Werbach introduced me (and many others) to the Open Spectrum issue. Here's his open letter to FCC Chaimran Michael Powell, and here's a large hunk of his Paradise of the Commons piece from Release 1.0 last year. I'm in radical agreement with both of them. That's the gist of what I wrote here.

NoS X
It's such a drag that I'm missing the O'Reilly OS X conference, which starts in earnest today. Wish I could be there for Tim's opening keynote, and the DRM panel this afternoon. Some detail on that one:
Dan Gillmor moderates a panel that considers the issues: Can this distinctly pro-customer approach continue in the face of Hollywood's ire and the entertainment industry's clout in Congress? Will Apple copy Microsoft and build harsh DRM for copyright owners into the system?
I'm sure the answer is no, but of course I need to say the question wouldn't come up with Linux.
Jordan Hubbard's keynote on Wednesday looks cool too.
Looks like I'll also miss the Harvard Business Conference in Cupertino on Thursday, though there is still an outside chance I might get up there for that one. Depends on how much packing is done and stuff like that.
Meanwhile I still need to report on Digital Hollywood. I am so far behind. I often joke that "I can keep more balls on the floor than anybody I know." But it's a little too true right now.

10/01
Kind of a binary date, no? Even in Euro: 01/10. The kid turns six on 10/10, a birthday that relieves him of the need to remember which comes first (month/day? day/month?) when he fills out forms.
