If you asked me to name the hottest future levers in election campaigning (and governing as well), I'd have said "The Net" in general and "weblogs" in particular.
Why? The use of web sites by campaigns is already universal; politicians love them because they can spew opinions and spin without having to engage in dialog or pay ad fees.
Blogs are of no interest to anybody except two obscure libertarians who you can't really call candidates in the sense that they have some sort of reasonable chance at winning.
If you want to understand the real effect of blogs on political campaigns, take a look at the role of Indepundit Scott Koenig in electing Denise Majette to Congress from Georgia, over the evil Cynthia McKinney.
