I had a strange problem occur with Jaguar the other day similiar to yours. After my iBook had went to sleep (and I closed the lid), I bumped the mouse. This somehow awoke Jaguar (keep in mind the lid was still closed). When I opened the lid, it went to sleep again, only this time it completely shutdown. I couldn't do anything, the power button didn't do anything, and opening/closing the lid had no effect. I ended up unplugging the AC and removing the battery (NO POWER); this allowed me to reboot the machine. Very strange indeed...
