Re: AirPort -> Linksys tips
If you're saying your existing Ethernet network at home already has DHCP service on it, and if the hotel and motel rooms and friends' and family members' homes you stay in always have Ethernet connected to broadband, then the WAP11 should be a fine choice for you.
I only brought up the modem thing because about once a month on average, you're somewhere that only offers dial-up service. I know this because that's how often you remark about how slow the 'net is via dial-up. ;-) I Googled for "slow dial site:doc-weblogs.com" (without the quotes), and found that you mentioned it on Jan 29th & 30th, Feb 15th & 23rd, March 14th & 15th, May 9th, and June 15th & 26th (sorry for not including the links). In at least one of those entries, you mentioned that you were using your AirPort Base Station so your TiBook wasn't tethered to the phone line.
