It's kinda dry here, but we'll adapt
| | Want to see the future of journalism crawl out of the ocean on all fours and start taking over the continents? Look here. Thanks to Dave and Glenn for the link. |
Speaking of sexy
| | To save my blackmail budget, I'll go ahead and point to a compromising picture of a certain sex object that Rael Dornfest shot at OSCon last week. (Knowing, of course, that there are ladies who will fantacize about what this animal can do with his tongue.) |
I demand a reblog
| | Phillip Pearson's rescan of the blogging ecosystem drops me down to number 9 among those receiving the most inbound links. On the outbound side, I'm still holding at #2. |
| | In The Truth Laid Bear I'm still just a "marauding marsupial." Hey, it's a step up. I used to have gills. |
Hey guys. Looking a reason to blog? Read this.
| | A few years ago Lynda Barry did a cartoon strip that asked guys if they would like to hear what their dates talk about in the powder room. Over the next few panels she treated readers to sample secret female dialog while the faces of their male fly-on-the-wall dates recoiled in horror. Her message to guys: You don't want to know. |
| | Madison: Oh, the island...well probably Doc Searls. Dawn: Wow. You know what? Dawn: I have been noticing lately that he is VERY sexy. Madison: Yup... Madison: If I was older and he wasn't married that would be the kind of guy I'd date. Dawn: I read his blog some before we met him, but after we meant and subsequent blog reading, he is so fine. Madison: He seems like such a great guy. And whip smart and witty. Dawn: Me too. Very both, all three and more. I like older guys a lot. |
| | Yo, Hef. Stop calling me, man. I'm busy. |
Struct on
Gnome Chomsky
| | I'm gonna be speaking at Gnomedex, by the way. Something about Linux. Also at Digital ID World, where I'll talk linguistics, among other things. (I just said that to make the headline work although I probably will talk about linguistics anyway.) |
Make fun, not war
| | When wi-fi isn't busy getting smeared by security obsessives (the gist of the piece Lisa points to), there's this problem with "war." Some folks have been pointing out, with some legitimacy, that hunting for wireless access nodes has approximately nothing to do, even metaphorically, with armed conflict yet the activity takes "war" as its root noun. |
| | But the fire has been set, and continues to spread. There's not a damn thing we can do to stop it. And why bother when we can defuse rhetorical complaint bombs by simply making WAR an acronym? Here ya go: |
| | Wireless Access Reconnaissance |
| | That says what it is and answers the why 'war'? question at the same time. We can go into the background (that stuff about the old movie) later. |

So you're down to #9? What's the problem? My blog isn't mentioned at all, and I know you have a link to it. . .

Doc, if you want to be like Hef you gotta have your first stroke. I had one a year ago at 50, and damm if it hasn't taken me a year of re-hab to get back up to speed. They're were times when I could not code an html page. Cause of this, sleep apnea...you snore you can die in your sleep.
Interesting is that newer knowledge got blow out first, later knowledge came back in drips.
Radio ratings are just about all out, my old station is losing it's audience, they are now 1/2 (halved) from where I got em 7 years ago. A friend who was programming in market 100 (look that one up)..got blown out as his station droped from a 9.2 to a 7.2 he had been there 12 years.(and in the market from about 20). Radio gotta love it.
Think we got fires: Moscow has a lot more...and the people aren't happy about it. it's blog you know the place. www.myjamby.com/medianetwork.
The Washington Post piece you linked to did not make the printed version of the paper..it's online only...
