Dynosauring/ Or blow out at the top/Webcasting
The x 20 spaceplane was the follow on the to X 15 in the 60s. It was cancelled along with Blue Gemini a military space station. Bob Pittman was cancelled today by his board of directors. The suits are back at AOL Time Warner. I predict Pittman will end up at Disney. (or really streching it doing something at Clear Channel)
Doc, the webcasters you listen to on live 365 are paying. I think that live 365 has a deal with the RIAA, that is better than the blanket license offered by the US LOC.
The RIAA speaking of dynosaurs, has effectively put webcasting out of bizness. The like Pittman did not adapt to the times. Webcasters are already testing the European waters ( argh! off shore pirates). Take a look at Curry's discussion on peercasting.
I worked as manager of DRM and billing for a satellite company that could multicast a stream to any part of the planet. DRM is not a technology that is even close to mature. You can break it. Anyone who tells you different is wrong. Multicast is great for streaming but to bill it you have to measure it. Quess what campers, you can't do that with ordinary log file tools.
I have great fun listening to radio stations on the web, but with the crap put out by the bigs here, I listen elsewhere. www.ibcworks.net is a good place for you to take a look at the world of webcasting.
I blog almost daily at www.myjamby.com/medianetwork.
