Until the next one comes along, which should be in a week or so, at the current rate
| | The cable guys came, and the problem is now fixed. [Later...] Orrr... not quite. Now I get the error message only 4 times out of 5 rather than 9 out of 10. I'm sure we'll solve this anyway. Faith in technology. Gotta have it. |
| | What the hell. It's too hot here anyway. I'm gonna go get a haircut and a swim. See ya later. |

Terminal asymmetry
| | It's still hell to post. Or to do anything in an upstream direction. Can't wait for the service guy to come at noon or whenever. |
| | Fortunately, I actually have a backup cable modem. But I still need the service guy to make it work. |

| | ...they translate my comments as ³Hollywood bize kendi ürettigi yildizlari sunuyor. Biz de internet araciligiyla siradan bir kisiyi yildiz yaptik. Fena mi?² Can't they even get the oblative right? Besides, I think "yildizlan sunyor," while correct in a pedestrian literal sense, really doesn't capture the sense of what I was saying. I think "kisyildzik aryiskadilzi" would have been much closer, as I'm sure you all will agree. |

| | Boucher has scoped the battlefield, defined it in terms we can understand, and elaborated a battle plan, and now it's up to the rest of the community to see how far this notion flies. |

Not sure if this is related to the "Terminal asymmetry" problem you are having, but I saw an article on MacFixit about MTU settings causing problems in some cases, especially with PPPoE connections. Not sure whether your cable connection is using PPPoE or not but thought I'd mention it just in case.
