On-line media publishing (and editing and manipulating) will be to broadband - what web pages were for the Internet.

That's implying that 'broadband' is a superset of what the 'web' is today. Yes it's TCP/IP and http - (and can easily support HTML) - but it's ALLOT more than just that:

- It's the worldwide TV, Radio and Music industry infrastructure

- It's the world of live sports, movies, worldwide live news coverage and live events in general

- It's the entire worldwide communications infrastructure (including al things wireless)

- It's every surveillance and security camera in the world and all the baby montiros too!

- and probably most importantly - it's that OTHER 97% of the fiber - that's laying dark - waiting for real-time bidding systems to route videophone calls, VOD, video shopping, video shopping, on-line video help, surveillance and security cameras, real-time sports and interactive event 'narrowcasting', etc. via all those 'poor' Telcos' capacity - who've poured trillions of dollars (and borrowed a $trillion$ BTW) to build that infrastructure

- and all of us - with our symetrical 10Mbps connections - making available to the world - our great American (and Afghanni, British, Italian, Japanese, Indian, Singaporean, etc.) novels, films, radio shows, garage bands, documentaries, educational courseware, scientific explorations, games - and YES - even text based opinions

Video will never go out over the free web. It'll go over the 97% of the fiber capacity that was laid down and is waiting for someone to PAY for it! That's how the 'Catch-22' of broadband will be solved. By people paying for their video bandwidth - when they want to. If they don't want to - then they'll settle for 'shitty' Internet speeds.
