Visited the geodesic dome botanical gardens in Vancouver. The dome is similar to the one at the St. Louis Botanical Gardens. Ending my Geek Cruise visiting a Buckminister Fuller icon is great irony. Doc and I had a great laugh about Stewart Brand, Whole Earth Catalog culture, Fuller's Synergetics and geodesic domes, and the negentropic economics of building a dome home (which my wife Marg and I attempted to do in the late 70's). Fuller writes so much about open systems in Synergetics I think he missed the negative entropy of building one of his designs. I would do it again if I had public funding to enclose a rain forest under a dome, but never a home, unless I could encase it in titanium for about $500,000. The leaks help to water the flowers.
Just went through my digital photo collection. Out of 307 images, I seemed to like ice and totem poles more than any other subject, followed by Haida line art, and the geeks in the Volendam's Library.
