Globalization at work
Imagine Rhett Butler running a complex of internationally famous go-go bars in Bangkok and you've got my friend Charles, who was born here, and wants me to send traffic. And I always do what Charles wants.

Traffic is nice. Unless you're run flat by it.
RageBoy and Dr. W. weigh in. Dave too. Gonzo Engaged. Then Dave again. Then RB runs the numbers. Looks like what Duke did to St. John's yesterday.
On that last matter, a public thanks to Buzz for a great day, a great game, and a great line. After Duke guard Jason Willams played such wicked defense on one St. John's player that the guy was literally walking around the floor in a daze, Buzz said, "He got into that guys's head and moved him out."
Makes me wonder if John still inhabits his own skull.

Yeah I know it was written for Big Ink, but still
Andrew Sullivan's A Blogger Manifesto does not contain a single link. Even to Blogger.

You can help Johnny get some clues. Or you can turn the page.
John C. Dvorak apparently got around to reading the copy of Cluetrain I gave him when I was a guest on Silicon Spin. Turned the poor guy's irascibility knob up to eleven. It would have stopped at ten, I think, if he weren't also getting back for the shit we gave him about dissing Weblogs a couple weeks ago.
I really like the "book that won't die." The "cult" thing too.
Clues to John: you got some good hits in, but it's been done already.
Wish I had more time to fuck with this, but I'm here with my Mom, helping her clean a house. Then I fly home.
So it's up to the rest of ya'll. You know what to do.
 Heh.

Pressing on
It's 6am. I'm sitting in the bathroom at the home of some old friends, Ethernet cable snaking out the door to the hub down the hall, grabbing a little bandwidth while the packets shine. Smell of scrambled eggs wafting down the stairs. Gotta get back offline (and off-plumbing), chow down and hit the road in about 20 minutes.
 Later, dudes.

Well how about that? Doc Searls in my neck of the woods. Not really "my neck", I've only been here 6 mos.

Doc, come down to Chapel Hill and take a walk on Franklin Street. It's small, but nice.

Oh, and I'll be in LA in 2 weeks. I hope it's still warm!

Enjoy NC

Oh yeah, perhaps you would like to read what Dvorak wrote me regarding his attack on blogs.

Wish I could. I lived in and around Chapel Hill, in various ways, from '65-'85. Still miss it.

But this weekend, except for The Game (what a rout), I'm here visiting my Mama, who kinda needs my full-time help. Flying home tomorrow.

What is the old magician's trick, redirection? Re-read the piece but don't take your eyes off the last two grafs.

Are bloggers nothing but a sniggering, self-congratulatory clique sharing a disagreement with a columnist and therefore taking turns at name-calling? This stuff is really unhelpful, and if I were going to write an article critical of blogging, this is just the sort of thing I'd focus on.

As it happens, I'm a big fan of blogging (not that I can find the time to DO much of it), but I'm very disappointed in this latest hoo-ha.

Last I looked, both Dvorak and various parties in the blogging world were stirring the shit and having some fun.

I've had no time to weigh in with something thoughtful about Stuff We're Not Talking About Here, but hope to in the next couple of days.

So don't cancel your subscription just yet. ;-)

You are both having entirely too much fun. Why don't you just, like, go program something? (How can you tell which one is Beavis?)
