The Mac CD Spin?
Every so often Macs seem to feel a need to spin up the CD-ROM drive eve when there's nothing in there, or it's irrelevant anyway. And they stop everything else while they're doing that. It still happens on OS X, though not as often. I was hoping it wouldn't. I have more serious hopes, but I thought I'd share that one little kvetch.
Gimme some of that good Santa Barbara weed, dude, because I've owned or run hundreds of Macs and never ever ever seen this happen. My Cube should be a good example: it's silent. I've run OS 9 and X on it. I never hear the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive unless something's in it.
In fact, I've had the reverse: drives that wouldn't spin up even with someone in it. Are you sure you don't have an extension called MacMakeDocCrazy installed? Or rather, Gas Light 2.0?
