Re: Thursday, December 27, 2001
The one radio I've spent most of my time with has been the Sony ICF-2010. It's got some bugs -- if you don't secure them better, the batteries that power the memory will jiggle and forget all of your programmed freqs, but I have yet to see a better system for storing stations. It has a 4 by 8 (? 10?) grid of buttons, each one representing one preset. Tune to what you want to save, hold down enter and the button you want to assign it to, and you are done.
Cons: No alpha display.
Reception is fantastic. From the Pacific NW, I've gotten ham operators in Croatia, and Radio Australia. Now I mostly keep it tuned to NPR, but when I feel curious, I still tune it around until the wife gets tired of the static.
Does the Grundig include synchronous reception? I'm sure it does, I think the 700 did.
I know you were not looking for recommendations. I enjoyed seeing that you are an SWL, and wanted to relate.
