You might find John Walker's Hacker's Diet (http://www.fourmilab.to/hackdiet/) useful. Among other things, he has a handy palm app which you can use to average out the noise in daily weight measurements from inaccuracy in the scale, or excess liquid & solid waste. (e.g. between Saturday and Sunday, I lost 4 pounds - it's not like I did 14,000 calories worth of exercise)
