Dallas in six, Detroit in six, Dallas in seven
| | I had this fantasy that the NBA semifinals and finals would consist mostly of unusual suspects: L.A. Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat (or New Jersey Nets) and Cleveland Cavaliers. |
| | Of those, only the Mavs and the Heat survive. |
| | It's a bummer to see the Clips go down. But Phoenix is a little bit better, and that's what shows in seven games. With Livingston and ohter young players continuing to improve, and with everybody staying healthy, they'll be better next year. |
| | Detroit is still the best team in the league. Not the best players, but the best team. They'll beat Miami in spite of Dwayne Wade, just like they beat Cleveland in spite of LeBron James. |
| | But the Mavericks have the mojo, plus Dirk Nowitzki, the tallest complete player in the game. And Avery Johnson has them playing terrific team ball, including defense. I liked Avery's team-oriented game when he played for Golden State in 94-95, and during his long stay in San Antonio. He was never a star, but always a winner. As a coach he's no different, but even better. |
| | So, good luck to Mark and the team. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. |
