Blogging the Intel announcement live at CES
| | Over slow bluetooth. Forgive. |
| | The short of it: Viiv is about the Complete replacement for TV, courtesy of Intel and Microsoft. |
| | Tom Hanks, Danny DiVito and Morgan Freeman, among other stars whose names I didn't catch, just came out on stage to talk up Clickstream. Look it up. I can't. too slow here. |
| | I don't usually do the scoop thing, but I'm betting I got one here. |
| | If not, it doesn't matter. |
| | What does matter is that we'll need to come up with a popular alternative to the DRM'd future that Intel is rolling out with Microsoft, and probably (we'll see next week) with Apple too. |
Hi from the living ooze level at CES
| | I only have a flaky bluetooth connection here at CES, in the keynote room where Intel CEO Paul Otellini will shortly speak and where (purposefully, as will also be the case for Steve Jobs' keynote next Tuesday as well) there is no wi-fi to the Net. |
| | Interesting fuel for re-thought, as usual. |
| | [Side note...] I'm pointing at some of these posts without being able to read them yet in my slow-loading browser, since the connection speed is set to "eventual". |

What sides are we talking about here?
| | My latest SuitWatch is up at Linux Journal. The subject is the fight we thought was between Silicon Valley and Hollywood, but now appears to be between technologists and content controllers, includuding Silicon Valley companies, such as Apple and Intel, that are giving Hollywood what it wants. |

Super Rose Bowl
| | I was watching the game with a friend at a bar in Caeser's Palace. When USC went ahead by 12 with 6:42 left, and it looked like the big question would be where we would eat afterwards, we chose to stay. Because Vince Young had already made it clear that he was unstoppable. |
| | When Texas was making its final march, I said "Texas will win." Because there was no doubt that Young would get the job done. Nor was there any doubt that he'd run it in again for two extra points. |
| | Against a team with two Heisman winners and a 34-game win streak. On its home turf. Amazing. |
| | By the way, kudos to the Texas offensive line. They kept Young from being sacked, and gave him lots of room to play his game. |
