Merry Morning
| | While I so often put up sunrise pictures lately, I thought it would be a better idea to show a piece of art that often inspires my sunrise and sunset photography. Above is a one of two round companion stained glass pieces made by and given to me by my sister Jan gifts that truly do keep on giving. |
| | Here's a photoset of the pieces that I shot before we drove North for Christmas. In addition to the sunrise and sunset piece, it also includes a similar piece Jan created for her nephew, our youngest son. |
| | As I say here, I speak often about Jan in her capacity as a retired Navy Commander. What I neglect to mention is that she has been expanding her creative side since leaving her second and third occupations, which were a) running operations at a dot-com startup and b) taking care of our Mom. Since Mom passed, Jan has become a full-time artist. These stained glass pieces are terrific examples of her work. |
| | She also occasionally chastenes me to remind folks that she's my younger sister as well. Indeed, she is. Enviably so. |
| | For many years, Jan and Mom came out from North Carolina to enjoy Christmas with us here in California. This year we're all trying out new traditions. Here in California, we're at daughter Jennine and son-in-law Nathan's house in Marin, north of San Francisco. And Jan is with family back on the other coast. |
| | I want her to know how much we love, appreciate and miss her out here. |
| | And to wish a Merry Christmas to all the rest of ya'll too. |
