More proof blogging is neither mainstream nor media
| | I just couldn't face implicitly confirming the idea that the blogosphere consists of big voices arguing with one another spit fights! instead of 10 million real voices engaged in every variety of human conversation and delight. |
| | Now I don't feel so bad that I dragged my butt about getting back to MSNBC a few weeks back. |
Getting away to it all
| | Whoa. I get back to my hotel here in Paris, turn on CNN, and there's Adam Curry in a feature on podcasting. |
Inn and out
| | I'm finally here, in my favorite city. (At a Holiday Inn that's quite nice, especially since it features broadband.) Didn't realize how much I missed it until the taxi started navigating the city streets. It's been close to ten years, yet it still looks the same, smells the same... Nice. |
| | It's late (20:37), and I am sooo hungry. Can't wait to sit down at some local brasserie... |
Hanging up on BT
| | Sitting in the BMI lounge here at Heathrow, laying over for an hour or so before I depart for DeGaulle. |
| | They have Wi-Fi here, which would be nice to use, if BT's @#$%& pay service worked. Instead, it seems designed by Dilbert's Mordac, Preventer of Information Services. |
| | Two screens into the payment process for BT Openzone Wireless Broadband, it hangs. I'd say more, but I'm getting on the Net through my bluetooth cell phone. It's nice, but it's also ssssllllloooooowwwww. I have no idea what that's costing me (if anything), either. But at this point I'd rather pay whatever to Cingular than anything to BT. |
| | Earth to airlines, hotels, restaurants and everybody else who serves already-paying customers: Stop charging for wi-fi. You should have free internet service for the same reason you have free lighting and toilets: as a grace to your customers. |
