Books for a cause. Also some pizza.
| | The Linux Users Group of Iraq is collecting Books for Iraq at the Freedom Technology Center in Mountain View (Silicon Valley, California) from 9am to Midnight tomorrow. Pizza will be served from 7pm to midnight. Details: |
| | Donate an extra copy of a good computer book to help Linux and free software education in Iraq. You bring the books, and we'll ship them! Money donations are also welcome. Thanks to our sponsor BookCrossing for supporting the event. |
| | After dropping off your books, stay for pizza and sample the educational and recreational facilities of the Freedom Technology Center. We have a Linux-based training lab as well as video games and pinball. |
Digging the Bush Blog
| | I'm on the phone with a reporter from a major publication, talking about Technology & Campaigns, giving a tour of major blogs and other important sources on both sides of the current conflict. We visit the Bush Campaign and discover the Bush Blog. It looks technically clueful (dig the pile of RSS sources under "Hot Topics," and the importance the campaign places on RSS), even if the blog is a bit guarded on the matter of authorship (no bylines, no comments). |
| | So now I find myself wondering about a number of things, on my own behalf as well as that of my correspondent. And I'm thinking maybe some of ya'll can help us out. |
| | First, what software is the campaign using here? I see it runs on Windows, but that doesn't tell me much. |
| | Second, who's actually writing this stuff? I'd love to talk with them. (Feel free to contact me privately.) |
| | Third, why no bylines or comments? I can imagine the answer, but I'd like to hear it as well. |
| | Fourth, what role, if any, do blogs like this play in feeding talk radio? Seems unrelated, but maybe not. Just wondering. |
