Despoiling myself
| | I'm back on my old G4/500 Titanium laptop, and I'm returning the borrowed G4/800 tomorrow. I'll miss the screen (the color is prettier and it has many more pixels) and the CD burner. Also the slightly better wi-fi range (still inferior to machines that don't put their antennas inside a metal box). It's a beautiful machine, and in much better shape than the G4/500, which I've beat the crap out of, pretty much (though it works fine). |
| | To make life a little easier after I go back to the /500 (where I am now), I replaced the 20 GB drive with a 60 GB, and raised the RAM to 512 MB. The new drive is nice. Stuff opens real fast. And now I'll be able to do more with movies and photos. |
| | One thing that's hard to figure, though. The G4/500 is running Version 10.1.4 (from my install disk). When I try to upgrade to 10.1.5, it grays out the drive and says "This volume doesn't meet the requirements for this update." Doesn't make sense. |
