And the winner is: bloghole
A number of folks are now starting to remark in private correspondence that they are "not a bloghole," or "don't want to be a bloghole" for not linking to something.
So: a datapoint. As of today, bloghole has 27 results on Google.
I'd like to say I got it from a fellow blogger, but I didn't. Came from a reader.
Jammin'
About to head home lengthwise though L.A. traffic. One more post and I'm gone. See ya'll tomorrow.
Meanwhile, look for my CARP post-mortem in Linux Journal. Touches on some issues not covered elsewhere.
Speaking as a Califorinian
When I lived in North Carolina (between 1965 and 1985) I used to be amazed when people from elsewhere would say something like "Now which one of the Dakotas are you from?" My mother is from North Dakota. She lives in North Carolina. That confuses things.
Anyway, Ed Cone visits the issue again. He lives near Greensboro, where I went to college.
By the way, Ed writes for the paper my Mom gets every day.
Rationalizing a purchase
Here's where the thread's going on Canon's G2, which I am edging toward buying, one of these days.
What a trip
Griff has some nice photos from his sojourn to Duluth over the weekend. Wonder how old those rocks are? My guess is they go back at least a billion years.
Handy non-news
Speaking of the Frog of Enlightenupment, our family tadpoles are growing legs.
Sanity, 1; CARP, 0
Sez here the Librarian of Congress has issued an order rejecting the CARP panel's recommendations. Here's the Slashdot.
Fuckin' C!
Flogrolling
I didn't look at the videos of Steven Levy talking about blogs until I saw the pointer at J.D.'s blog. Actually, I still haven't seen them, because they seem to require an unidentified plug-in that none of my browsers have. (Don't you love a "View Plug-In" button that goes to pages like this?)
Hmm.. wonder if Steven is tempted to do for bloggers what he did for Hackers and cryptographers?
It's a good song, you can sit to it
It's stable, cabable and sustainable.
I don't think I'm violating my NDA by quoting the line above. Here's another one...
Architectures that can impart information so that it lives a long time and can take advantage of those networks.
I like this stuff because it makes working on other stuff so much easier.
[Later...] Somebody on a panel just said "Pretend you are a consumer." Who isn't? Talk about being conceputally locked on the supply side...
Another example of Blogger Witness Protection at work
Sad to see Dooce stop blogging as herself, anyway. Her reasons are personal (you can read about them at the link). She adds: I will continue to be a subversive whiny bitch online, somewhere, under an assumed identity. If you are ready for it, please find me. If this makes me a coward, at least I'll be a well-rested coward.
At least the archives are still there, including Just a Few of The Several Reasons Living In Los Angeles, California Totally Kicks Ass.
Thanks to Kevin for the link.
Blogjam
From readers, more nouns for bloggers who won't link other bloggers: unibloggers, bloglodytes, blonks, blandbloggers, narcissibloggers, douchebloggers, post holes, masturbloggers, blogluddites, Trans-Sullivan-ians, bloghog...
