Better blogwidth
| | Thanks to Brent for fixing our width problem on Mozilla. Also to Mike for working on some other issues as well. |
Improvisational civilization at work
Does Google have a doppelganger? Just wondering.
Call me a weasel in flight
| | One of the things I hate most about publishers' Web sites is a lack of links in text. Like here's Oddball Mogul, great little piece in the Washington Post about Felix Dennis, the publisher of Maxim, among other mags (and to which I was pointed by Eric Norlin). Is there a link to anything in this piece? No. Why? Because most publishers force writers to write in software that doesn't support it. There are reasons, of course, all legacitic (how's that for a neoadjective?). |
| | The reasons don't matter. The time will come and it won't be long when writing linklessly will as impolite as farting in a crowded taxi. (As will pointing almost exclusively to the publisher's own stuff, as this piece does here.) |
| | I don't know about you, but more linkfully I write, the harder it is for me to write any other way. This, more than anything else, may be what blogs bring to the writing world (along with the kind of software that makes it not only possible, but easier and easier with each new rev). |
Numbers and letters
Fasten your asteroid belts
| | Best question: Will Mozilla be finished by then...? |
Ride on
| | Why you might want to avoid Hollister around this time next year. |
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines
| | I hate dumb humor sites, but I love that line too much not to point at it. |
Which means I'll turn 1054 on the 29th
| | Got a document here that says I was born in the year 947. |
Much better than the drinking game
Holy shit
| | #7 already. I had no idea. Last I looked we were #31 or something. |
Merci beaucoup
| | to elanceur weblog, for its kind links and constant reminders that I am not, regretably, in France (although I'll shift a pointless couple thousand miles closer tomorrow). |
Why cable broadband doesn't suck
| | I'm downloading new Palm Desktop software at 246 KB/sec. Fifteen megs in <1 minute. Not bad. |
| | [Time passes, 4 hours of sleep happens]. And it worked! The new Palm software syncs. A harbinger, I hope. |
Pole rolling
| | Where I'm going tomorrow it's already past 3am. So I just reset my blog prefs to East Coast Time, flipped my home page and got ahead of myself. Not a chance I wanted to miss. |
| | Anyway, I just wanted to urge ya'll to continue following Marek around and digging what he's up to. Maybe I dig his act because it so clearly isn't one. Or maybe it's because he finds more to what I say than I thought I said. Or maybe it's because he's so good at laying fresh track for Cluetrain. |
| | Whatever, it's good shit. |
