Wallowing in silence
The mail client is in the midst of dripping down 400 emails through a 28.8 dial-up connection to an 800 number from here in Noanoa Linkoaa.
Today is Thursday. I haven't been on the Net since last Saturday. That's only about 80 emails a day. Since I tend to run a couple hundred a day, that means people must be reading the blog, because nothing else is telling people I'm not around. (I never bothered to figure out how to do that mail thing that tells correspondents I'm elsewhere.)
Having a great time. Main insight: TV is even less interesting than I already knew. Our family went off TV, cold turkey, when we moved to the little apartment in Santa Barbara, and we didn't miss it. Here in Paradise there's a nice little TV with about 60 channels of Cable, and we only use it to check the weather. There is exactly nothing interesting on the thing (interesting preposition, "on"). For news, we can still get KNX/1070 from Los Angeles (about 2200 miles across the Pacific) on the car radio when we go out at night. Also a pretty good Canadian news station out of Vancouver on 1130. And sports on KTCT/1050 out of San Francisco. These facts are interesting to me and nobody else in our party. And I have used them to discover that the Markets are up and not much else is happening.
Now the mail is downloaded and I have to yield the phone.
Aloha, ya'll.
