Party time
So I'm at this Transmeta party at Tsunami, which is this great Asian restaurant in the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, writing on a Sony PictureBook C1VN, running on a Transmeta Crusoe processor. The keyboard is about 50% normal size, which makes me feel, like, huge.
Lots of fun toys here. More later. Gotta make dinner. Just wanted to show off blogging, big time.
[later, back at the hotel...] I've had my doubts about Transmeta in the past, but what I saw at this party lots of portable (and "thin") hardware from Hitachi, Fujitsu, Gateway, Sony and other major OEMs, running Windows and Linux without a hitch was very impressive.
Among the cool people I ran into was Larry Magid. Our mutual pal Bernie DeKoven has been trying to introduce us for years, so it was fun to finally close the loop. I did my best to talk Larry into starting a Weblog (pointing to Dan Gillmor's as a good example of how a bigtime journalist like Larry uses the medium).
Love those Scorpios
Yesterday was Colette's birthday. Today is Joyce's. Happy birthdays, babies.
Among my other favorite Scorpios are my pal Susan (can't find a picture online, dammit), my boss Phil and my grandma, Ethel F. Searls, who will be 117 years old tomorrow. She died only 10 years ago, and was lucid for the distance.
Phil had a birthday party for k.d. lang the weekend before last. We missed it, but got to see k.d. herself in Oakland two nights ago. The woman is outstanding.
