Live Clues: If you're within driving distance of Scott's Valley (on the Santa Cruz side of the hill, south of San Jose) and are willing to blow off whatever you think you're supposed to be doing tomorrow morning, then plan to come on down to Borland/Inprise, whose brave marketing people are putting on The Market's Clues for Marketing: A conversation with Cluetrain co-author Doc Searls. The affair starts at 8:30am. Vittles will be provided for the early arrivees. Register by email. Coming from San Jose on Highway 17, Borland/Inprise is the set of large, polyhedral buildings on the left (East) side of the highway in Scott's Valley. Can't miss it.

Demand Rules: This is from the IHTH (It Had To Happen) Department. LiquidPrice.com has what appears (to me at least corrections are invited) to be the first online marketplace that comes from demand rather than supply. The FAQ puts it perfectly:
We are a buyers' marketplace where you find your product, submit it for bids, sit back, relax and watch the retailers bid competitively against each other for your business. You get the best deals without the hassles of running (or surfing) around looking for a deal.
Don't think of it as an eBay with a large supply of each item, or as a Priceline for non-perishable goods. Think of it as a marketplace.
I'll need to study it more, but my first question will be: where does conversation come in? I think it's mostly on the supply side, but I'm not sure. Your thoughts are welcome here too.
